What I Help With

Individuals come to Maggi for many different reasons. Here are some of the most common areas she works with.

Life Transitions & Big Decisions

Career changes, relationship shifts, moving cities, or any major life crossroads can shake your sense of direction. Counselling helps you navigate change with clarity and purpose.

Anxiety, Overwhelm & Overthinking

The constant hum of worry, the tendency to spiral, the difficulty switching off. Practical strategies to understand your anxiety and build real confidence and calm.

Grief & Loss

Whether you are grieving a person, a relationship, a version of yourself, or a life you imagined — grief deserves space and compassionate, unhurried support.

Self-Worth & Inner Confidence

Persistent feelings of not being enough, imposter syndrome, self-criticism. Building genuine self-acceptance and a healthier, kinder relationship with yourself.

Boundaries, Communication & People-Pleasing

Difficulty saying no, over-giving, conflict avoidance, or feeling unseen in your relationships. Learning to communicate authentically and hold your boundaries with confidence.

Relationship Stress & Conflict Patterns

Recurring arguments, communication breakdowns, or a sense that you keep experiencing the same relational dynamics. Understanding the patterns and building healthier connections.

Family Dynamics & Generational Trauma

The patterns, wounds, and beliefs passed down through families — often without anyone realising. Exploring how your family story shapes you today, and how to move forward.

Burnout, Stress & Emotional Regulation

When you've been running on empty for too long. Learning to recognise your limits, resource yourself, and respond to stress in ways that serve you rather than deplete you.

Past Experiences & Present Patterns

Old experiences that continue to surface — shaping how you see yourself, react to others, or move through the world. Making sense of the past to create more freedom in the present.

How Maggi Works

No single method fits everyone. Maggi draws from several evidence-based frameworks and tailors the approach to what will actually work for you.

Person-Centred Therapy

The foundation of everything Maggi does. Developed by Carl Rogers, person-centred therapy is built on the belief that each person has the capacity for growth when they are offered the right conditions — unconditional positive regard, empathy, and genuine connection.

This means you will always feel respected, not judged. The relationship between counsellor and client is central to the work — because healing happens in connection.

CBT & REBT

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy are structured, practical approaches that help you identify and shift unhelpful thought patterns and beliefs — the kind that contribute to anxiety, low mood, self-doubt, and relationship difficulties.

These approaches give you concrete tools you can use between sessions. Expect practical exercises, reflection, and strategies you can apply to everyday situations.

Family Systems & Parts Work

We are all shaped by the families we grew up in — by the dynamics, patterns, beliefs, and sometimes wounds that were passed down, often without anyone realising. Family systems therapy helps you understand how those early relational experiences continue to show up in your life today.

Parts work (drawing on Internal Family Systems) helps you understand different parts of yourself — the inner critic, the protector, the wounded part — and build a more compassionate, integrated sense of self.

Narrative Therapy

Narrative therapy is based on the idea that we all construct stories about ourselves and our lives — and that sometimes those stories limit us. Maggi helps you examine the story you're living, separate yourself from your problems, and explore alternative, more empowering ways of understanding your experience.

This approach is particularly helpful for identity work, self-worth, and making sense of difficult or complex life experiences.

"You don't have to control your thoughts. You just have to stop letting them control you."

— Dan Millman
